Infant First Aid and CPR

St Mark James, Lifesaving Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and St. John’s Ambulance all have CPR and first aid programs that include infant first aid and CPR. All of these major providers teach candidates hands on techniques for rescuing infants with cardiac or respiratory emergencies. A number of courses provided by these providers and solely by the workplace approved involve infant first aid and CPR.

workplace approved CPR Programs

CPR level “C”

CPR level “C” is one of the most popular stand alone CPR courses provided by the workplace approved. This is an 6 hour course that teaches participants how to rescue and do CPR on adults, children and infants. In this course their is no first aid component for infants. Re-certifications are available for this course. Candidates that successfully complete this course will receive a CPR level “C” and AED certificate that is valid for 3 years.

CPR level “C” for Health Care Providers (“HCP”)

Health care provider CPR is the most comprehensive stand alone CPR course created by all the major first aid and CPR providers. It is a 8 hour course that includes all of the curriculum from the CPR level “C” course, however, it also includes training in the use of more advanced equipment such as bag valve masks. Re-certification are available for CPR “HCP” courses. Candidates that successfully complete this course will receive a CPR level “C” and AED certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Regardless of which of these CPR courses you register for you will receive hands on practise with a infant CPR mannequin.

Standard First Aid and CPR

Standard first aid and CPR level “C” is one of the most popular first aid courses offered through the workplace approved. This first aid course is a 16 hour course that teaches candidates a number of different emergency situations that infants can fall victim to. This course comes standard with CPR level “C”, however, at some location candidates can opt for a higher level CPR “HCP”. Re-certifications are available for this course. Standard first aid re-cert courses take approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete. Candidates that successfully complete this course or the re-cert course will receive a CPR level “C” and AED certificate that is valid for 3 years.

workplace approved Babysitting Programs

workplace approved babysitting courses are courses designed exclusively by the workplace approved. These courses teach babysitters to be prepared for almost any major emergency while babysitting. Course includes significant first aid and CPR training for rescues on infants.

Childcare First Aid Programs

Childcare first aid and CPR training are courses offered exclusively through the workplace approved. They mirror closely to standard first aid and emergency first aid. Both standard childcare first aid and emergency childcare first aid include CPR level “B” training. These courses only mildly touch on infant first aid (NO infant CPR). Re-certifications are not available for these courses.
